Directional control valve, DCV in short, is a kind of valve which is mainly used in both, pneumatic and hydraulic systems that are fluid powered. Water, air, hydraulic oil or any other fluid can be allowed to flow in varied paths from a single or more sources. The design of this valve comprises a cylinder which contains a mechanically or electrically actuated spool that controls the flow of the fluid by either allowing or restricting the flow. Directional Control Valve can be identified based on the spool type, actuating technique and number of ports & positions. This valve generates sound when shifting from one position to another position.
